Dr Henny Tamboto

Skin Cancer Physician

Dr Henny Tamboto received her medical degree from the University of New South Wales and has worked extensively in the public hospital sector, particularly in the fields of general, breast and plastic surgery. She gained her Master of Surgery for her research in capsular contracture following breast augmentation. Her research was published in the leading specialty journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and she was awarded the John Ham Medal by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Surgical Research Society of Australasia Travel Grant.

From her surgical background, Henny has developed a special interest in skin health, in particular the management of skin cancer. She has undertaken several dermoscopy courses (Professional and Advanced Certificates of Dermoscopy, and Professional Diploma of Dermoscopy) to continually better her diagnostic skills and she also participated in the Skin Cancer Summit.
As Australia has one of the highest incidence of skin cancer in the world, early diagnoses are essential to avoid invasive surgery and disfigurement. Regular screening and surveillance should be considered as part of a preventative approach, and Henny suggests that everyone becomes familiar with his or her skin.
